“Understated funkiness with a keen melodic imagination. (Asche).... plays with an original and organic feel that is relaxed and legato but is not afraid to jump into a solo burning”
-- Chris Robinson, Downbeat Magazine
Kyle Asche - guitar
John Simms - bass
Todd Howell - drums
Say it as if it were spelled “ashey,” and you’ve got the correct pronunciation of Kyle Asche’s last name. Catch the echoes of such giants as Wes Montgomery, Jim Hall, George Benson and Grant Green in Asche’s music, and you begin to sense the heavily steeped area of inspiration from which the 37-year-old guitarist and composer draws.
At the age of 37 the list of musicians with whom he has shared the stage reads like that of a seasoned veteran. He has performed on stage with high profile jazz artists such as Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, The late jazz organ legend Melvin Ryhne, “Killer” Ray Appleton, Jim Snidero, Victor Goines, Bobby Broom and numerous others.
While home is Chicago, Asche has performed throughout the Midwest at jazz clubs and national festivals. He continues to develop his craft both as a improviser and bandleader and plans to release a long overdue Trio album later in 2017.
