Sarah Marie Young is an award winning singer, songwriter and musician. She was the 2000 winner of the "Gospel Meets Symphony" award in Indianapolis, a semi-finalist in the 2010 Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition and the winner of the 2011 Montreux Voice Competition judged by Quincy Jones, from which she recorded her first full length album "Too Many Februaries" at Balik Farm Studios in Switzerland and performed it the following year at The Montreux Jazz Festival.
After being signed by Snip Records in 2014, Sarah released and toured Europe with her second album, "Little Candy Heart". Her latest album, "Recess" was self-produced and released in April 2016. Based in Chicago, Sarah continues to perform locally as well as internationally.
On this one special night, Sarah pays tribute to one of her most influential jazz singers, Sarah Vaughan. From Vaughan's start with The Earl Hines Big Band all the way to her last recordings on Pablo Records, the evening's tribute will be filled with Young's rich interpretations of the classics "Sassy" sang throughout her illustrious career.
