Art Davis - trumpet

Dennis Luxion - piano

Dan DeLorenzo - bass

Russ Phillips - trombone

"He depends on the careful placement of one note next to another: even at quick time, his improvised melodies sound painstakingly chiseled, and his best passages seem inevitable. No one in his right mind would change a note."

-- Neil Tesser, Chicago Reader

Art Davis is a veteran of the Chicago Jazz Scene. He has toured with Ray Charles and Rosemary Clooney and performed with many jazz greats including Dizzy Gillespie, Clark Terry, Joe Williams and Nancy Wilson. He is a charter member and featured soloist with Jeff Lindberg's Chicago Jazz Orchestra which play at Winter's occasionally and also at the Green Mill. He is currently performing also with such groups as Christy Bennet's "Fummee" (Roger's Park Social) and the Red Rose Ragtime Band.

Art consider's Miles Davis to be one of his primary influences and was first introduced to modern jazz upon buying the record "Miles Smiles". Since that time he fell in love with the great quintets of the 50's and 60's and has absorbed much of the music on those recordings.

He has performed extensively with his partners Kelly Sill (bass) and Kelly Brand (piano). Art has appeared on three of Ms. Kelly Brand's own CDs, including "Sister Lunna" and "The Door".
