"There are players who skate more, players with more driving rhythms and more original versions. For listeners thirsty for 'notes...like hoisted water/raveling off a bucket,' for the generous lyricism that left the planet with Hank Jones and Tommy Flanagan, Christopher is a reminder that our musical well is deep and fresh, that a new generation of players can still lead us to it."  - Michael Lauchlan, author of Trumbull Ave

"Solemn Moments," Chicago based pianist Christopher Lucas Wilson’s new album is set for release on January 20th, 2023, on CD and all digital platforms, with vinyl releases to follow. His third official release captures the intimacy of the prolonged pandemic and its aftermath--each arrangement and composition a vivid musical expression of one of the many solemn moments lived during that trying and historic time.

Following well received releases "Feelin’ Better" (2014) and "Leaving Los Angeles" (2019), Wilson finds himself back in his home state of Michigan for this outstanding studio date with old friends and accomplished musicians Noah Jackson on bass and Jesse Kramer on drums. "This album is both profoundly personal and meaningful to me...each track benefitting greatly from the unique abundance of time and unparalleled experiences we lived a couple years back," Wilson reflects. Offering up 4 superb original compositions and 4 engaging and thoughtful arrangements, "Solemn Moments" is an early 2023 must-listen for all fans of the jazz piano tradition.
